TEN-T Green Paper Identifies Port Connections as Priority
On February 4, 2009, the European Commission adopted a Green Paper to consider future political and economical challenges, such as the achievement of climate change objectives, further economic growth, economic and social cohesion, as well as the strengthening of Europe's international role for a trans-European transport network (TEN-T).
The Commission sets objectives and proposes options for the future TEN-T development and takes appropriate actions after seeking the opinion of a broad range of shareholders on the outlined policy objectives.
The Green Paper underlines that the future TEN-T infrastructure development policy should give particular attention to:
- Appropriate development of port infrastructure
- More efficient hinterland connections
- Removal of bottlenecks on major transport axes
The Green Paper is available from the Commission’s website.
